Salem Baptist Church is a God loving Church in search of a God loving Senior Pastor.  Our mission is to live the love of God through worship, ministry, missions discipleship, fellowship and proclaiming Jesus Christ.  We subscribe to the “Baptist Faith and Message” published in 2000 by the Southern Baptist Convention. Our Church is affiliated with the New River Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of NC and the Southern Baptist Convention. Salem Baptist Church of Sneads Ferry is believed to be organized around 1830, making it the oldest Onslow County Southern Baptist church on record. Sneads Ferry is in the southeast coastal region of North Carolina located between Wilmington and Jacksonville.  Our growing area is blessed with bountiful commercial fishing and seafood industry, military industry, Topsail Island Beaches, picturesque bays, the New River and Intra Coastal Waterways. Senior Pastor Role
The Senior Pastor is responsible to the Church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide administrative leadership in all areas of the Church life and to act as the chief administrator of the paid staff of the Church.

Responsibilities
1.    Plan and conduct the worship services, prepare and deliver sermons, lead in observance of Church ordinances.
2.    Lead the Church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the Church and community.
3.    Visit members and prospects.
4.    Conduct counseling sessions, perform wedding ceremonies, and conduct funerals.
5.    Serve as chairman of the Church Council to lead in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the total Church program.
6.    Work with deacons, Church officers and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities.  Train and lead deacons in a program of family ministries.
7.    Cooperate with associational, state and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern.  Keep the Church informed of denominational development.  Represent the Church in civic matters.
8.    Serve as chief administrator of the paid Church staff.  Supervise the work of assigned paid staff workers. Make performance evaluation of all employees annually and more often as necessary.

1.    Possess the Biblical qualities described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Ephesians 4:1-6
2.    Believe and adhere to the statements of faith in the “Baptist Faith and Message” published in 2000.
3.    Seek the mind of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all things.
4.    Be a person of integrity in his family, the church, and the community.
5.    Be loving and gracious to all.
6.    Be diligent in work according to a work schedule shared with the church.
7.    Use his ministry gifts, knowledge, and wisdom to glorify Christ through the church.
8.    Provide spiritual leadership to the church.
9.    Lead the church in planning and implementing ministries that fulfill the Great Commission.
10.    Preach to instruct, inspire, and enable the church for ministry.
11.    Coordinate baptismal services, officiate weddings and funerals, or delegate these responsibilities.
12.    Mediate conflict to produce healthy, productive relationships in the church.
13.    Lead the church staff and delegate responsibilities to staff members or church officers.
14.    Lead the church leadership team (church council) in its tasks or delegate responsibility.
15.    Counsel other church leaders and ministry teams about their work.
16.    Evangelize the lost through preaching and personally as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
17.    Care for persons with special needs and lead others to be involved in caring ministries.
18.    Respect church members’ ministry gifts and encourage members’ growth and involvement in the life of the church.
19.    Represent the church in community and denominational activities.
