However, we are always recruiting and looking for ways to grow and expand the ministry.
Reports to: Lead Pastor

Church Mission Statement:
Mountain View Baptist Church exists to love God through worship, grow people in a small group, serve people in a ministry, and reach people for Christ (Matthew 22:37-41, 28:18-20).
Position Description:
The Minister of Music will oversee and produce worship services and special programs, coordinating all service details based on theme and overall direction established in partnership with the Lead Pastor. He must be a dynamic, passionate visionary in leading people to Jesus in ways that embody the four core values in our mission statement. The Minister of Music will be a team-builder with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of recruiting and developing teams and individuals. This position is pastoral in nature, requiring service not solely as a musical/performing arts director and ministry coordinator, but also as a spiritually mature shepherd to the church body.
Church Information:
Founded in 1978, Mountain View Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church located in Hickory, NC, nestled in between Charlotte and Asheville in beautiful western North Carolina. We currently average 527 in Sunday morning worship and over 300 in small group Bible study. We also have Wednesday evening discipleship opportunities for kids, students, and adults.
MVBC just successfully completed a smooth pastoral transition in which Dr. John Compton, who retired after 12 years at MVBC and 44 years of pastoral ministry, passed the baton of leadership to Pastor Steven Hill this summer. This transition deeply blessed and grew the church and cemented these two men as friends and co-laborers in ministry. Dr. Compton has moved on to serve as an Interim Pastor at a fellow NC Baptist church but he and Pastor Steven remain close and MVBC will always be Dr. Compton’s home church. It is an exciting time for God to call our next Minister of Music as the church is healthy and growing, particularly among young families.
