Part-Time Director of Children & Youth

The Director of Children and Youth Activities shall be an individual committed to Jesus Christ and to ministry with young people and their families. He/She shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his/her duties and carry out details. He/She shall have good interpersonal skills for working with young people and adults within the congregation and shall be a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church. This is a year round, part-time position requiring up to 20 hours per week. The position will require posted office hours to be determined at the time of hire, including Sunday and Wednesday services. The Interim Director is expected to be available for appointments and staff meetings as needed. He/she should be present at all church functions, as is reasonably possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Planning and programming of all Sunday and Wednesday evening children/youth activities.

 

Weekly Activities:
Sundays:  

- Teach Youth Sunday School Class with volunteer  

- Lead Swift Creek Kids and JAM   

- Youth Group Gathering (7-12 grade)     

Wednesdays:
      - Lead and Coordinate Age Appropriate Children and Youth Mission Programs

Annual Activities:   

            - Lead Vacation Bible School, and other Seasonal Activities.

            - Coordinate trips, retreats, concerts, conferences and other special activities as needed  

      Planning:    

            - Attend Staff Meetings  and coordinate Children/Youth Team meetings.

            - Offer ideas and input about future goals for the children and youth ministry.  

            - Coordinate publicity with publicity committee and church secretary.     

            - Write an article for the monthly newsletter

 

 2. Encourage and support volunteers working with children/youth programs and events

    -Help recruit volunteers to serve as children and youth workers.

    -Build relationships with the parents of children and youth.

    -Lead meetings with the parents of youth as needed

    -Communicate about the calendar, convey volunteer needs, solicit parental concerns, etc.

  1. 3. Assist the Pastor as needed in the Sunday worship services.
  2. Promote interaction between the children/youth and other members of the congregation.
  3. Support the Pastor as he establishes long-term and short-term objectives for an ongoing ministry to children/youth.
  4. Prepare a children/youth program budget.

 

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITY  

 

  1. The Pastor, the Children and Youth Committee will encourage and support the work of the Interim Director of Children/Youth.
  2. The Interim Director of Children/Youth will be accountable to the Pastor.  
  3. Attend and report at church quarterly conferences.
  4. The Interim Director of Children and youth will be evaluated annually by the Pastor, who will obtain input from the Children and Youth Committee.
  5. Should the Interim Director of Children and Youth feel mistreated by any staff, church member, or committee of the congregation, he/she may discuss any grievance confidentially with the Personnel Committee and/or the Pastor.
