About Us
Laurel Bluff Baptist Church has been a part of our rural community since 1847. We're located just 20 miles west of Knoxville, TN, nestled between Kingston and Sweetwater in the Midway area. It's a great place to be, especially since we're only 3 miles from the Midway Schools, which cater to elementary, middle, and high school students.
Our Services
On a typical Sunday, we welcome 100-125 members to our traditional Southern Baptist services. While we enjoy contemporary music, we prefer a more traditional worship style.
Our Beliefs
We stand firm in our beliefs and do not align with the Reformed Baptist sector or Calvinism. Our members are dedicated to the Bible's principles, emphasizing personal faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation and believer’s baptism by immersion. We value:
- The supremacy of scripture
- Soul competency (the ability to understand the Bible)
- The separation of church and state
- The Trinity
- Jesus' divinity and humanity
- The sinfulness of humanity
- The importance of evangelism and missions
Community Involvement
We're passionate about supporting children and youth in our church and community. Our AWANA program is thriving, and we're actively involved in missions, focusing our outreach efforts locally.
Our Members
Our church is a vibrant mix of all ages. We have many young families with kids, as well as mid-life and senior adults. It's wonderful to see our young parents engaged in various church activities, from teaching Sunday School and AWANA classes to participating in children's music and events.
Our Leadership
Our last pastor served for 7 years before retiring for health reasons. Before him, our previous pastor led us for 8 years before retiring from the ministry. We're grateful for their dedicated service!
