Job Title: Associate Pastor of Student Ministries

Organization: Philadelphia Baptist Church (PBC); Stanfield, NC

Scope: A man called of God, adequately trained, and called by the church to devote himself to the Student Ministries of the church.

Hours: Full-Time Compensation: TBD based on qualifications.

Supervision: Work directly under the leadership of the Senior Pastor in consultation with the Board of Deacons.

Educational Requirements: Bible College or Seminary preferred.

Experience Requirements: Student Ministry experience preferred.

Ordination: Previous Ordination preferred.

Personal:

  1. Display evidence of a personal conversion and relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Maintain a lifestyle commiserate with the full counsel of scripture, and conducive with the responsibilities of a church leader as described in 1st Timothy 3:1-13.
  3. Maintain a residence within or in reasonable proximity to the community and mission field of the physical church property.
  4. Be in full agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

 

Youth:

  1. Work with the Senior Pastor to plan, promote, and conduct weekly regularly scheduled Youth Ministry activities on Wednesdays, Sundays, or other designated days.
    a. Recruit youth from within the church and outside the church to attend and participate.
    b. Teach the youth directly or by proxy.
    c. Facilitate recreation for the youth either directly or by proxy.
    d. Involve and equip lay leaders to serve with the youth as integral to the Youth Ministry.
    e. Choose or develop curriculum for use in the Youth Ministry, and train lay leaders in use of such curriculum when applicable.
    f. Work with and through the Sunday School Director to improve and enhance Youth’s Sunday School Classes.
  2. Work with and the Senior Pastor to plan, promote, and conduct special activities for youth. Such activities may include but are not limited to:
    a. Retreats, camps, assemblies
    b. Fellowships, recreational activities, and banquets
    c. Mission trips
    d. Youth week and youth led revivals
    e. Associational youth rallies
  3. Promote and participate in visitation and enlistment of youth for the Youth Ministry.
  4. Disciple youth through evangelism and the process of growth towards spiritual maturity.
  5. Counsel with youth and parents as necessary to help in their lives and spiritual growth.
  6. Disciple parents on being the lead disciplers of their children.
  7. Work with the Nominating Committee in enlisting members as Youth Ministry leaders.
  8. Encourage youth, parent, and volunteer involvement in the total program of the church.
  9. Regularly visit local Middle/High School campuses and have personal contact with students at school approved times.
  10. Build relationships with local schools as allowed by the school system.

 

Children:

  1. Work with the Senior Pastor to plan and promote weekly regularly scheduled Children’s Ministry activities on Wednesdays, Sundays, or other designated days.
    a. To recruit children from within and outside the church to attend and participate.
    b. To recruit and equip lay leaders to teach and lead in Children’s Ministry.
    c. To involve and equip lay leaders to serve in the Children’s Ministry.
    d. Choose or develop curriculum for use in the Children’s Ministry, and train lay leaders in use of such curriculum when applicable.
    e. Work with and through the Sunday School Director to improve and enhance Children’s Sunday School Classes.
  2. Work with and the Senior Pastor to plan, promote, and conduct special activities for children. Such activities may include but are not limited to:
    a. Retreats, camps, assemblies
    b. Vacation Bible School
    c. Associational activities directed towards children
  3. Serve as a resource person for children’s teachers, leaders, and parents of children.
  4. Encourage child, parent, and volunteer involvement in the total program of the church.
  5. Build relationships with local schools as allowed by the school system.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the Senior Pastor in planning and leading programs, outreach, and events.
  2. Make visits in the community (hospital, prospects, and other as may arise).
  3. Cooperate with Associational and State organizations and leaders in promoting activities of mutual interests.
  4. Participate in the church’s online presence through church website and social media.
  1. Preach or teach when arranged with the Senior Pastor, and/or when needed to fill the pulpit in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
  2. Promote church fellowship through programs and activities.
  3. Procure and maintain the CDL needed to operate the church bus.

 

Administration:

  1. Cooperate with the Finance Committee to present a proposed budget for the Youth and Children’s Ministries.
  2. Approve expenditures for Youth and Children’s Ministries provided for in the church budget, and provide receipts to the Church Treasurer.
  3. Follow all guidelines established in the Constitution and Bylaws of the Church.
