YOUTH PASTOR
Employment Status: Part-Time
The Youth Pastor for Glenn View Baptist Church may be a full-time or part-time position based on the current need of the church body.
Expected Hours/Documentation: Not to exceed 40 hrs/month (approx.. 10 hrs per week). Time sheets will be filled out and submitted weekly to the finance assistant.
Routine Hours: Include Sundays, Wednesday nights, staff meeting, and prep time
Non-routine hours: camps, youth events, church events.
Financial Care:
- Salary = TBD based on education and experience
- 1 week of Paid Time Off
- Health insurance is not provided by Glenn View Baptist Church.
Purpose
The main purpose of the Youth Pastor is to be responsible for the spiritual oversight and overall execution of our youth ministries from 6th-12th grade.
Spiritual Qualifications
- The Youth Pastor shall meet the New Testament requirements for office as listed in 1 Timothy 3:17 and Titus 1:6-9.
- Passionate about student ministry with strong interpersonal skills and approachable personality.
- Able to work well with others.
- Competence in teaching the Bible and applying biblical and theological truths to teens.
- Must have had a personal conversion experience with Christ and been baptized by immersion.
- Spends time in personal, family, and corporate worship.
- Demonstrates a Christ-like attitude in performing all work in order to exalt our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Employment Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent or higher degree) with a concentration in ministry from an accredited college/seminary preferred, or equivalent ministry experience in a similar role.
- Ordained or a candidate for ordination for the work of the gospel ministry.
- Become a member of Glenn View Baptist Church.
- Lead the youth ministry in conjunction with the overall mission and vision of Glenn View Baptist Church.
Working Relationships
- The Youth Pastor will report directly to and be under the supervision of the Lead Pastor of Glenn View Baptist Church.
- The Youth Pastor will participate as part of our ministerial staff and work alongside staff members.
Direct Duties for Youth
- Give direction and vision to implement a comprehensive youth discipleship ministry for grades 6th-12th.
- Develop and provide leadership for youth Bible Studies and ministry activities;
- Enlist, train, and equip leaders for the youth ministry;
- Provide resources and counseling to youth and their families;
- Plan and oversee the financial expenditures of the Youth Ministry fund;
- Plan and coordinate youth trips (i.e. mission trips, retreats, camps, etc.); and
- Conduct ministry visits to and with youth (i.e. sickness, relationship building, etc.).
Other General Qualifications and Guidelines
- Participate in worship services as requested by the Lead Pastor and Worship Leader.
- Work in every way supportive to the Lead Pastor
- Vacations will be set in accordance with the vacation policy of the church and approved by the Lead Pastor. Ministry activities outside of Glenn View Baptist Church and this job description have to be approved by the Lead Pastor.
- When away, staff person will be responsible for a substitute. Staff person will get approval for the absence from the Lead Pastor and will inform the Lead Pastor of whom the substitute will be. When the absence is due to vacation, sickness, or an approved ministry activity, the church will be responsible for compensating the substitute. If the staff person is away for any other reason, the staff person will be responsible for compensating his substitute.
