First Baptist Church of Kernersville, NC, guided by the Holy Spirit, seeks a full-time Youth Minister and we are thrilled that you're giving us a look — and we mean that! We're looking for someone who believes that also and wants to invest their life into discipling youth.
As our Youth Minister, you will step into one of the most exciting and meaningful roles in our community. You will guide, mentor, and point middle and high school students to Christ in ways that will shape the rest of their lives. This is not just a job. It's a calling.
Responsibilities & Duties
As the Youth Minister of FBC of Kernersville, you'll lead with both vision and care across these key areas:
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all youth
- Develop and lead engaging weekly youth group meetings for Wednesday nights and Sunday nights
- Plan and organize special events including retreats, camps, and mission trips
- Provide pastoral care and guidance to youth and their families
- Lead Bible studies and teach Sunday school (as needed)
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for youth programs
- Collaborate with church staff and ministries to integrate youth into the larger congregation
- Create and manage the youth ministry budget
- Communicate with parents and congregation, keeping all informed of upcoming events
- Develop outreach programs to engage unchurched youth in the community (ie: FCA, other campus ministry organizations, social networks, etc.) to meet students where they are 9 months out of the year
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make thoughtful adjustments in partnership with youth ministry team and lead pastor.
Qualifications & Skills
We're looking for someone who brings both character and competence.
Requirements:
- a Bachelor's degree in theology or religious studies
- Experience working with youth in a church or related ministry setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with church staff and Youth Ministry volunteers
- Proven leadership and demonstrated organizational skills
- Creativity in planning and implementing programs and activities
- Deep commitment to the vision, mission, and values of our church
- Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to Christian values and teachings.
- Ability to mentor and build lasting relationships with youth
- Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend activities
- Proficiency in using technology and social media to engage youth
- Ability to pass a background check and to complete Ministry Safe Training
