Rich Hill Baptist Church (RHBC) is located in Heath Springs, SC approximately one hour south of Charlotte, NC and one hour north of Columbia, SC. Heath Springs is a small, rural community. The church itself is comprised of members with long-standing, and in many cases familial, ties. Sunday worship is typically attended by 50-60 people, primarily aged 40 or over. Wednesday night Bible studies include elementary, middle/high school, and adult classes. The adult class is often the largest group with about 15 regular attendees.
As of March 2025, the pastor of RHBC retired after 13 years of service. The pastor search committee has been charged with prayerfully, carefully, and patiently seeking a new full-time pastor. A recent survey of the church body revealed several desireable traits we seek in our next pastor. These qualities include: 6-10 years of pastoral experience; strengths in preaching and church leadership; prioritized time spent visiting church members who are ill, hospitalized, shut-ins, etc.; prioritized time spent in sermon preparation; prioritized time spent with ministry leaders who plan and organizing ministry activities; strengths in building relationships, helping to compel a plan for the future of the church, evangelism, understanding the context of the community, and discipleship and spiritual formation. RHBC is full of loving people eager to welcome and nurture a new pastor, his wife, and children.
Pastoral responsibilities will include preaching Sunday worship services, leading Wednesday night Bible studies, performing baptisms/funerals/weddings, visiting shut-ins, sick or hospitalized church members, counseling members and/or visitors seeking assistance and attending church-wide activities and events. RHBC members desire to grow in both faith and number, so a pastor with excellent leadership and community engagement skills is vital.
