Worship Pastor

Purpose:

The Worship Pastor upholds the mission and purpose of Parkwood by leading the body of believers and equipping the saints of Parkwood to glorify God through worship. 

Qualifications: 

Convictions

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing, personal relationship with Him.
• Ability to communicate the truth of all Scripture and rightly ordered biblical, theological beliefs and understanding.
• Committed to the theology of Parkwood as stated in our Core Beliefs, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and our statement on sexuality.  
• Theological and biblical beliefs translate into life and ministry. 

Character

• Meets the qualifications of an Elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4) and possesses a shepherd’s heart.
• Gives personal evidence of the fruit of the Spirit and is committed to moral purity (Galatians 5:22-25).
• Committed to a healthy relationship with his wife and family.
• Consistent testimony of a follower of Christ. Seeks to be the same person in public and in private. 

Calling

• A God-given desire to serve the local church as a Pastor. 
• A burden to serve the local church to glorify God through congregational worship. 
• A burden and practice of equipping the saints for the work of ministry. 
• Vocational ministry experience.

Competency

• Proven strong leadership/executive skills and ability to develop others.
• Proven experience in a complex working environment that requires decision-making and people management.
• Vocal, choral, and instrumental training and expertise.
• Utilization and understanding of up-to-date technological tools for worship ministry.

• Proven strong work ethic.  Embraces and enjoys the discipline of work.
• Self-starter. Ability to translate expectations into a daily work schedule and to lead others to partner alongside. 
• Ability to multitask. 
• Ability to deal with the stress and strain of ministry with people.

Strategic Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead engaging worship services that convey and advance the biblical text and theme each week in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
• Ensure that the worship service flow is carried out with excellence, both musically and technologically.
• Provide pastoral leadership throughout the Worship Ministry, including recruiting and developing leaders and volunteers. 
• Give direct supervision and oversight to the Worship Team staff. 
• Plan special worship services as necessary.
• Give oversight to the Worship Ministry Budget.
• Serve as Team Leader.

Shepherding Responsibilities

• Provide and lead in pastoral care for all involved in worship ministry
• Provide leadership and pastoral care for weddings and funerals
• Lead a Community Growth Group
