Reporting Relationship: Direct report of Discipleship and Administration Pastor
Serves: Infants through Elementary School (5th Grade) Children
Classification: Part time – less than 40 hours per week (this job could potentially be combined with our Youth Program Director position to create a full-time role)
Job Summary and Purpose:
The Children’s Programs Director at Independence Hill Baptist Church is responsible for the tactical planning, oversight, coordination, and implementation of children’s programs and processes as related to Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, Vacation Bible School, summer activities, and/or camps. The Director also serves and works with the Children’s Ministry team to ignite a passion to follow Jesus in the lives of our children.

Essential Job Functions:
- ?Develop and/or partner in the development of the strategic plan for the Children’s Ministry and execute upon that plan
- ?Develop, coordinate, and administer comprehensive ministry program for children served in the church and surrounding community
- ?Oversee preparation of children’s programs Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministry
- Support a strong network of volunteers as defined within the discipleship program
- ?Regularly communicate with volunteers
- ?Plan, oversee, and/or communicate with the behind –the-scene volunteer team on preparation for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening activities
- ?Update and review attendance rosters for Sunday morning using the church management software
- ?Conduct inventory and stock supplies for Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings
- ?Oversee all processes children’s Sunday School on-site Sunday morning
- Support volunteer needs by providing resources and supplies for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministry (including classroom volunteers and children’s welcome desk)
- Manage all elements for general children’s Sunday morning processes (e.g. rosters, signage, etc.)
- Oversee children’s check-in, safety, and security processes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings
- ?Ability to effectively problem solve issues that arise unexpectedly
- ?Communicate with new parents and first-time visitors for assimilation and service
- ?Establish and maintain strong relationships with parents and volunteers
- ?Communicate with volunteers in regard to various related needs and developments (e.g., food allergies, diaper and bathroom training, etc.)
- ?Manage and/or conduct training of volunteers in various roles
- ?Supervise Children’s Ministry events as staff representative
- ?Attend staff meetings and retreats as necessary
- ?Work with other staff to provide a well-rounded program of teaching, music, and recreation for children
Qualifications:
- ?Strong Christian values with exhibited commitment to a relationship with Christ
- ?Have a passion for the spiritual development of our children
- ?Have a degree in Christian Education and/or 3-5 years’ experience in children’s ministry
