Clinchfield Baptist Church of Marion, NC is seeking a Director of Student Ministries who has a calling and passion to see all students Kindergarten – College grow in their love for Jesus Christ and His Word. We have a very vibrant and healthy church and we are looking for someone to join our ministry team to help us develop and grow our student ministries.

We believe in investing not only in the next generation, but also in the leaders of that next generation! As a church we are committed to investing in this position so that our church will continue to see students grow in their love for Christ, and their purpose of telling others about who Jesus Christ is. Our church is located in Marion, NC, which is a small town located between Asheville and Charlotte, NC. We are a growing community of believers that needs a motivated individual to step in and get involved in the local middle schools and high school in our community. Our church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and holds true to the Baptist Faith and Message, but remains relevant in a rapidly changing culture without compromising the integrity of Scripture.

Clinchfield Baptist Church has been led by Senior Pastor Terry Roach.  We have seen our church grow over the last 20 years under his leadership to the current 250 member congregation that we have today. Under Pastor Terry Roach’s leadership we strive to bring glory to God by making every effort to reach the lost, make disciples, and heal the broken in our community. 

In a culture where students are walking away from the church at a rapid pace, we desire to change the tide for the next generation by sowing the Gospel into the hearts and minds of our young people. We are seeking an individual passionate about the Gospel and passionate about making an eternal difference in the lives of our students in order to grow the Kingdom of God. Position Description

Job Title:     Director of Student Ministries

Purpose:     The Director of Student Ministries is responsible for the leadership, development, and promotion of student ministry programs serving grades Kindergarten through College at Clinchfield Baptist Church.

Type:            Full-Time

Reports to:  Senior Pastor   

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Him.
  • Leads a life in accordance and governed by the word of God (Bible).
  • A Spirit-led leader committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and empowered by God to serve in this capacity.
  • Must be willing to be a part of the team approach to ministry, serving alongside the Senior Pastor and church staff.
  • Successful candidate must establish membership at Clinchfield Baptist Church upon accepting the position.
  • Successful candidate faithfully upholds Clinchfield Baptist Church, our Staff, and our Congregation in prayer.
  • Demonstrates behavior aligned with Clinchfield Baptist Church’s Constitution which contains our Statement of Faith, Policies, and expectations of those in the ministry.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have relevant experience in Student Ministry leadership, teaching, and/or administration.
  • Preferred College degree or higher education but not a requirement when having relevant experience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop a Student Ministry that is Christ-centered promoting the following:
  2. Introducing students to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and assisting students in growing in their Christian faith.
  3. Helping students learn the great doctrines of the faith and assisting students in learning the values of Christian service.
  4. Assisting students in sharing their faith with others.
  5. Assisting students in applying God’s Word to their everyday lives.
  6. Teach students about the meaning and importance of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  7. Develop and lead a student’s new Christian/new member class.
  8. Design and develop a Student Ministry that keeps the spiritual growth and well-being of students at the core of everything that is done.  While a Student Ministry will incorporate many fun and entertaining events, such events are never to be what defines the success of the Student Ministry.
  9. Approach the ministry with an innovative mindset, using creative and interactive learning techniques in programming and discipleship training.
  10. Must have charisma to engage and build relationships with students across various personalities and interests. Be sensitive to the needs, pressures and trends in today’s students with knowledge of present culture and the ability to offer guidance and counsel to matters they face or find themselves in that are contrary to biblical values.
  11. Foster unity within the Student Ministry, bridging gaps and actively addressing cliques which can be detrimental to unity.
  12. Maintain a level of separation in the Student Ministry recognizing maturity differences between younger students and the needs to challenge the older students with content and topics that will ready them for college and/or careers.
  13. Recognize that our students are looking for an environment that is both accepting and socially engaging through Christ-centered programs and activities.
  14. Introduce, instruct, and involve the students of Clinchfield Baptist Church in missions that are appropriate for their age level.

 

DUTIES

  1. Develop a comprehensive Student Ministry that will introduce students to God’s plan for their lives.
  2. Minister alongside the Senior Pastor when counsel is needed or requested by students and their families.
  3. Direct and oversee student Sunday School and/or Small Groups.
  4. Develop and direct an ongoing Sunday evening program specifically for youth.
  5. Develop and direct ongoing Wednesday evening student programs.
  6. Assist the VBS Director with participation in Vacation Bible School.
  7. Plan and oversee all student ministry social events, fellowships, outings, summer camps, and mission trips.
  8. Oversee and direct student mission projects in the church and community.
  9. Prepare and publicize adequate information to keep students and their parents apprised of ongoing activities and ministry opportunities.
  10. Lead in enlisting (along with the Nominating Committee) lay leadership to work in the Student Ministry.
  11. Provide direction to lay Leaders overseeing ministries to students in the Student Ministry. Help these leaders to understand their roles and guide them to minister in a manner that glorifies the Lord, edifies the church, and meets the needs of all students.
  12. Plan and oversee the budget for the Student Ministry. This will be done in cooperation with the Finance Committee. Work with this committee to make needed purchases in accordance with church policy and budget.
  13. Prepare a Student Ministry quarterly report on the pulse, growth and any upcoming or future activities, for the church, parents and students.
  14. Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional meetings as appropriate to one’s development in Student Ministry.
  15. Coordinate planning to ensure that college students are connected with local churches near universities they attend.
  16. Build relationships with youth, children, college students and families by connecting with them beyond Sunday Mornings, Sunday Evenings, and Wednesday evenings by meeting students beyond the church walls, such as attending their sporting events, community events, concerts, musicals,etc.  additionally, seek ways to build relationships with students who may not know Jesus and who may not be engaged in the ministry.
  17. Help to assimilate and connect youth and families who are new to Clinchfield Baptist Church.

  • Reports to the Senior Pastor
  • Oversees lay leaders who may assist with student ministries
