University Hills Baptist Church, located in the University area of Charlotte, sits in the middle of a diverse, multi-ethnic neighborhood, with The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and its 31,000-student body adjacent to the neighborhood. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus who worship, connect, serve and go! Our vision is to reach all people for Christ and grow a unified body of believers for the glory of God! We are seeking a full-time pastor to lead our congregation.
Principal Function:
The Pastor is responsible to the church for leading in her mission of helping believers grow toward maturity in Christ through reaching the lost with the gospel, seeking to engage the members in Christian service. The Pastor leads through proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the biblical revelation, engaging in pastoral care ministries, providing spiritual/scriptural guidance in all areas of church life, and providing leadership for the staff.
Characteristics:
As reflected in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, the church expects the Pastor to demonstrate integrity in all aspects of his professional and personal life. The Pastor should serve as a Christian example in his role as husband and father. He should allow time for his own family and personal time for himself.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Vision – Direct strategic plans for ministry and church growth that advances the Great Commission Vision of the Church.
- Preaching / Teaching / Worship Leadership – Sunday morning and Wednesday night Bible study.
- Pastoral Care – Coordinate with Church Staff, Deacon Team, and other servant leaders to develop, implement, and participate effectively in ministering to our congregation.
- Evangelism / Missions – Leads in the development, implementation, and on-going support of an effective evangelism ministry that includes training, and outreach opportunities, thereby fulfilling the Great Commission.
- General Administration – Provide leadership for the ministries of the church.
- Staff Administration – Supervise staff in leadership of their respective areas and in all matters pertaining to personnel policies and procedures.
- Church / Denominational Relationships – Encourage and participate in healthy partnerships with Southern Baptist churches and organizations on the association, state, and national level and with other churches and groups.
Education:
Graduate of a Baptist Theological Seminary or post-graduate degree from a Baptist-affiliated academic institution.
