The Pastor will be called by the Holy Spirit and confirmed by a Baptist Church through ordination.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:
The Senior Pastor is responsible for leading HCBC in functioning as a New Testament Church and providing spiritual and administrative leadership to the members, staff and ministries of the church.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation.
- Provide administrative leadership/oversight for all HCBC ministries.
- Serve as chairman, or delegate the leadership of staff meetings with other staff members as he may, from time to time, delegate.
- Proclaim the Gospel and lead HCBC in proclaiming the Gospel, including evangelism and outreach programs of HCBC.
- Lead the staff and church in a caring ministry.
- Lead in worship services and collaborate with the Minister of Music & Worship in coordinating and evaluating the worship services.
- Preach at all worship services that include preaching or arrange for someone to fill the pulpit.
- Serve as moderator.
- Work with the personnel committee in recommending and advising the selection of all staff members, as well as determining their duties.
- Provide supervision to members of the HCBC staff according to the organizational chart.
- Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of HCBC ordinances.
- Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies, as feasible.
- Provide spiritual and pre-marital counseling to members.
- Participate in or lead church-wide activities such as outreach and public events.
- Participate in or serve as proxy/ad-hoc member of Committees (e.g., Finance, Personnel, Academy Board).
- Serve as a teacher/facilitator for special studies (e.g., D-Groups).
- Perform other duties as assigned/required by the Church.
