Senior Pastor

Job Description:

Green Street Baptist Church is seeking its next Senior Pastor to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching and teaching God’s word, ministering to the needs of a growing congregation and providing leadership in all areas of our church. The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church and responsible for the vision, Bible preaching and oversight of ministries to equip members and reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

GSBC was founded in High Point, North Carolina in 1897 and has grown to become a leading Southern Baptist Church in the Triad region. Our members live in a 15-mile radius of the church which includes thriving communities, universities and businesses. High Point is known as the Furniture Capital of the World with markets annually that attract thousands of people from the U.S. and the world. 

Green Street is seeking the Senior Pastor who: 

• Confesses to be a born again believer in Jesus Christ
• Is ordained to the Gospel ministry and has evidence of a divine call
• Meets qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:7-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3
• Agrees with GSBC's Statement of Faith which aligns with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)
• Maintains a close personal walk with Jesus Christ evidenced by his example and spiritual leadership
• Graduated from an accredited college or university, accredited Southern Baptist Seminary, and an active member of the Southern Baptist Convention
• Has eight (8) years of experience as a Senior Pastor

Principal Functions:

• Responsible for preaching and teaching the Bible, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, and leading all pulpit activities through regular worship services. He is a faithful student of the Bible and presents well-organized sermons that challenge and encourage the congregation.
• Responsible for planning and leading worship services, special events, and overseeing the ministry of the church. He will lead the congregation in observing Biblical Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. 
• Responsible to God for his ministry and to the congregation for the well-being of the church and its ministries as outlined in the church’s Constitution and Bylaws.
• Maintain a healthy relationship with High Point Christian Academy as a ministry of GSBC.
• Perform other duties as consistent with being a pastor of a Southern Baptist Church and as necessary for the continuation of ministry at GSBC
