Job Title: Pastor of Children & Youth

Location: White Oak Baptist Church, Archer Lodge, NC

Position: Full-Time

Overview: White Oak Baptist Church is seeking a dedicated and passionate Pastor of Children & Youth who aligns with Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) values. This individual will oversee all aspects of our children and youth ministries, including our college-age ministry. The role involves leading and coordinating volunteer teams, developing a comprehensive discipleship strategy, and ensuring that our youth are spiritually nurtured from birth through college. The goal is to prepare them for adulthood with a strong biblical foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to ensure the spiritual growth and health of our congregation, focusing on children and youth.
  • Develop, lead and manage children, youth, and college-age ministries, ensuring they align with White Oak’s vision and discipleship strategy.
  • Develop, select and oversee curriculum for children, youth, and college-age ministries for Wednesday and Sunday services.
  • Coordinate and support volunteer teams for children and youth ministries, ensuring adherence to safety policies and effective program execution.
  • Plan and oversee regular and special events for children and youth, such as camps and Vacation Bible School (VBS).
  • Engage and empower parents to participate in and contribute to the discipleship of their children at home.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for children and youth ministries.
  • Provide counseling to children, students, and parents as needed, following safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage the budget for children and youth ministries.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and lead the congregation in the Lead Pastor’s absence when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in coordination with the Lead Pastor and Personnel Team.
  • Manage social media accounts to promote program activities. 

 

Expectations:

  • Maintain office hours that are accessible to the congregation.
  • Inform the Lead Pastor and Personnel Team of any unforeseen absences from scheduled hours, events, or duties.
  • Coordinate hospital and home bound visits with Lead Pastor.
  • Expected to work approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Address any concerns promptly with the Lead Pastor or Personnel Team.
  • Provide a written resignation two weeks prior to leaving the position.

Qualifications:

  • Committed Christian who aligns with White Oak’s beliefs and practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading children and/or youth ministry preferred.

  • A criminal background check will be required.
  • There will be a 90-day probationary period.
