Blackburn Baptist Church is seeking a bi-vocational pastor who loves the Lord and who will put that love in action towards his congregation and community. His close relationship with the Lord should be evident in all aspects of his ministry in preaching, counseling, teaching, and in connecting with people. This man should be led by the Holy Spirit and have a strong prayer life. He should be one who seeks the will of the Lord to possibly become a future full-time pastor as the congregation grows.
Structure: Blackburn Baptist Church is not organized in a typical Southern Baptist church structure. We are aligned with a council system established on biblical principles in how spiritual gifts play a role in the foundation of service. There are six councils: Administrative, Worship, Evangelism, Ministry, Discipleship, and Body-Life. Each being responsible for an area of service within the church. Additionally, we have four ministry groups: Men, Women, Youth, and Children. Our Deacons are to minister to the members of the church in a servant role and not in a decision maker role. The goal is for each family of the church to have a place to serve our Lord, have a voice within the church family, and partner with the pastor to uplift believers and share the gospel within our community. Our pastor is an ex-officio member of each council and ministry group.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation
- Having a profound understanding of scripture, and relays the message with clarity, confidence, and enthusiasm
- Emphasizing evangelism while ministering to the congregation
- Showing compassion and kindness with a deep concern for the lost
- Working with the Worship Council to plan services on Sundays and Wednesday nights
- Working with church councils to communicate spiritual guidance, share ideas, and provide Godly wisdom to overcome concerns
