Liberty Grove Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church seeking a dedicated and compassionate pastor who feels called to shepherd our congregation, preach the Word of God, and lead our church in spiritual growth and community outreach. The pastor will provide spiritual leadership through preaching, teaching, counseling, planning and mentoring while fostering a supportive church environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with our Deacons and congregation to build upon our established foundation while guiding us toward future growth and revitalization.
Liberty Grove Baptist Church is located in Fleetwood NC, deep within the Appalachian Mountains and near the winding New River. It was established over 110 years ago and has enjoyed a peaceful existence and unity within the body of believers. The congregation is age diverse and number approximately 120 during worship. A new sanctuary was constructed approximately 12 years ago, and we are in the process of developing plans for a new addition replacing older space and expanding the overall gathering capacity. Key Responsibilities:
- Preaching and Teaching: Prepare and deliver biblically sound, well-prepared sermons on Sundays and other occasions. Provide leadership to maintain vibrant bible studies, discipleship programs, and other educational opportunities for the congregation. We seek an effective shepherd who can provide, and lead others to provide, a delivery of the gospel message in a manner that is easily absorbed into the lives of individuals and families.
- Visionary Leadership: Work with church leadership to set goals and develop strategies for church revitalization and community impact, based on a prayerful vision. Then serve as the shepherd leader to move toward that vision forward in a unified and excited manner.
- Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care through visitation, counseling, and prayer for church members and their families, especially during times of crisis or need.
- Worship Planning: Collaborate with worship leaders and musicians to plan and lead meaningful worship services that glorify God and resonate with the congregation.
- Community Outreach: Encourage and lead the church in local and global mission efforts. Build relationships with the surrounding community and seek opportunities for the church to serve and witness to others.
- Discipleship: Mentor and develop church members to grow in their faith, encouraging active participation in church ministries and leadership roles.
- Expansion Leadership: Collaborate with Deacons in the construction process of additional facilities within a church expansion project.
Qualifications:
- Pastoral Leadership: a minimum of 5 years of prior pastoral experience is preferred, with experience in church leadership, preaching, and pastoral care.
- Personal Characteristics: Strong interpersonal skills, compassionate, approachable, and able to connect with people of all ages. Demonstrates humility, integrity, and a commitment to personal spiritual growth.
- Ordination: Must be an ordained minister, or preparred for that event.
Position Commitment
Liberty Grove Baptist Church has operated under the leadership of Bi-Vocational Pastors over an extended period. That flow has worked well within our congregation. However, we are open to talking with both Bi-Vocational and full-time ministers.
