The Youth & Children's Pastor is responsible for ministering to and guiding children and youth from preschool - 12th grades in the understanding of the gospel. Responsibilities also include working with church members and staff to achieve the church’s mission objective of “reaching out to a lost and dying world with the good news of Jesus Christ.” The person holding this position will be extending the ministry of Altamahaw Baptist Church to our church members, church prospects and the surrounding community.
Job Skills and Requirements:
•Must be a born-again Christian believing in the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ
•Beliefs must align with the Baptist Faith and those of our church
•A committed and faithful participant of Altamahaw Baptist Church focused on the goal ofreaching the unsaved for Jesus Christ
•Must have a calling to minister to children and youth understanding the educational andspiritual needs of children and youth
•Responsible for fostering effective communication within the church family
•Timely and consistent attendance
•Availability in the evenings for church team meetings
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
•Prepare and lead weekly Sunday night Children/Youth services
•Oversee Sunday morning Children’s Church, teaching as needed
•Oversee Children and Youth Sunday School, teaching as needed
•Form relationships with preschoolers – 12th graders and their families
•Build relationships with Children and Youth leaders, enlist new leaders as needed
•Meet regularly with the Children and Youth committees to plan activities
•Meet quarterly with Church Council to communicate upcoming events for churchcalendar
•Provide leadership of special events: Easter activities, VBS, Fall Festival, etc.
•Plan and organize Children and Youth Camps, mission trips, leader retreats, and community involvement
•Communicate with parents about upcoming events and activities (weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, church website)
•Preview and assist in choosing Sunday School and VBS material
•Participate in hospital visitations as needed
•Assist in funerals, weddings and other church services as needed
•Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor
