Children's Director

Ministry Description:

This Staff Position will be responsible for all children’s ministries from birth through 5^th grade, as well as ministering to their families.  They will be required to have teachers in place, teaching materials for all age groups under their direction, plan for summer camp, lead in organizing Vacation Bible School, plan activities for children within and outside of church functions and participate in worship services as directed by the Pastor.

Principal Functions:

To develop, coordinate and administer an effective, well-rounded children’s program and to provide leadership and supervision of volunteers involved in this ministry.

The position is based on a 20-hour weekly commitment with a flexible schedule.  Salary will be $20,000 per year; benefits will not be provided.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a clear testimony of salvation, be a born-again believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
2. Must have experienced a call of God to minister to children and assist their families.
3. Must be or become a member of Mayodan First Baptist Church.
4. This person must agree with the Doctrine and Statement of Faith of Mayodan First Baptist Church which is the Baptist Faith and Message 2,000.
5. Must have the ability to communicate well and lead others.
6. Must be a loyal team player with the Pastor, Staff, and congregation of Mayodan First Baptist Church.
7. Must teach and demonstrate Biblical principles.

Responsibilities:

1. Attend all worship services and a Sunday School Group.
2. Prepare and conduct weekly ministry activities and opportunities for children.
3. Work with the Pastor and Staff to:
1. Evaluate and conduct the Children’s Ministry as the Lord leads.
2. Plan, conduct and evaluate a comprehensive schedule for children such as Bible Studies, camps, retreats, fellowship, recreation and mission projects.
3. Recruit and train volunteers when needed.
4. Plan, conduct and evaluate outreach to children and their families in the community.
5. Coordinate with other church leadership to ensure quality experiences for children through other church ministries such as Sunday School Groups, mission organizations and church wide activities.
4. Attend Staff Meetings if possible or coordinate with the Pastor or Staff weekly or bi-weekly to gage progress and plan accordingly.
5. Provide budget information and be responsible for the Children’s Ministry budget.
6. Participate in leading church services when requested by the Senior Pastor. (i.e., give announcements, read scripture, lead in prayer, etc.)
7. Plan ways for children to participate in worship services. (i.e., singing, quoting scripture, plays and programs, etc.)
8. Be active in building relationships with children by attending school and community functions.
9. Develop personal connections outside of worship and children’s events.
10. Be active personally in community outreach and be a visible representative for Jesus Christ and Mayodan First Baptist Church.
11. All other duties commensurate with this position as assigned by the Pastor.
