Town Creek Missionary Baptist Church is a vibrant, growing church near the Brunswick / New Hanover County line that is accepting resumes for a part-time Music Director. About a mile off NC-17, Town Creek has been blessed to welcome five new members into our fellowship in the past month, and we have been blessed to baptized five people since Thanksgiving of 2024. We thank God for sending us first-time guests every week, and our great desire is for God to use us to reach those who will move into the 50,000 homes planned for Brunswick County. The musical part of our worship each week consists of an intentional mix of traditional hymns, Southern Gospel, contemporary favorites, and newly released songs you might hear on K-Love. Our praise team has 7 vocalists and 7 instrumentalists, many of whom play multiple instruments. We have a 15-voice choir that sings anthems with a track. Our services are about 65 minutes in length.
Below is a snapshot of expectations related to this position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Pastor with planning the musical portion of the weekly worship services
- Lead the Praise Team Soundcheck on Sunday mornings (currently 10am)
- Provide leadership on stage during the 11am Sunday service and a second service on big days
- Lead the Choir rehearsal each Monday at 7pm and Praise Team rehearsal each Monday at 8pm
- Manage the downloading and distributing of chord charts, lead sheets, sheet music, rehearsal schedules, other pertinent files to the team
- Manage communication with the team as to worship set lists, rehearsal times, and Sunday call times
- Pray regularly for all those involved in the music ministry
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- A servant's heart
- Spiritual beliefs that resonate with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 (available on request)
- Ability to read music
- A teachable spirit
- A bias toward action
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some experience in a church music ministry at some level
- Experience working with volunteers, building and leading teams
- Some proficiency on a musical instrument such as piano or guitar
- A pleasant singing voice
- College degree or some college training
- A commitment to personal growth and development
Compensation:
- Commensurate with experience
The part-time Music Director answers directly to the Lead Pastor.
