Job Title: Associate Pastor

Reports To: Senior Pastor & Deacons 

Position Status: Part-time/Bi-vocational

Purpose:             

The Associate Pastor is responsible for contributing to the execution of the vision of First Baptist Church by providing pastoral leadership in discipleship of children & youth programs, community outreach, and growing God’s Kingdom. The Associate Pastor will mentor under the current Senior Pastor in all leadership and ministry fields in preparation for possible transition into the Senior Pastor Position.

               

Qualifications:

The Associate Pastor is called by God and hired by First Baptist Church to exercise the gifts that God has provided for pastoral ministry. This individual must give testimony to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and must demonstrate an attitude and lifestyle that is consistent with the scriptural qualifications detailed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Such qualities include but are not limited to: humility, servant -leadership, faithfulness, maturity, and a desire to serve God by serving His people. If candidates are not already an ordained minister, they must be ordained before consideration for the Senior Pastor position.

  • Fluent or ability to become fluent in Spanish is desired
  • The candidate will support women in the role of deacon and other leadership positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Senior Pastor to shepherd and care for the church, modeling and implementing the vision and values of the church. 
  • Provide gospel clarity through pastoral moments, benedictions, spiritual formation events and other teaching opportunities.
  • Focus on gospel mission within the church and throughout the surrounding community by intentionally equipping the saints for ministry and developing ministry leaders.
  • Lead, develop, and grow Children and Youth ministry programs through sharing the gospel and making disciples who make disciples.  
  • Know the ministry, people, and communities of First Baptist Church through intentional connection, spiritual development, counseling and disciple-making discipleship.
  • Promote gospel unity and cohesiveness through care and leadership of all members, attendees, and staff of First Baptist Church.
  • Conduct general pastoral responsibilities alongside the Senior Pastor and ministry staff, including weddings, funerals, baptisms, visitations and pastoral counseling.
  • Assist and support the Senior Pastor in all aspects of ministry.

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be based on individual qualifications, experience, and background and with input from the Personnel Committee.
  • The candidate will consent to a background check by the church.

EVALUATIONS:

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Personnel Committee with input from the Pastor.

TERMINATION:

This is at will employment and may be terminated with or without cause by either party upon 30 days' notice to the other party.
