Our church is actively seeking an individual to lead, teach, and guide spiritual growth within our Children’s Ministry. The Children’s Ministry Leader will oversee children from birth to 6th grade, aiding in their understanding of themselves and their faith, fostering growth in faith and discipleship.
Responsibilities include working with the Pastor and church leadership to set goals, plan, and implement various activities such as classes, summer camp, mission work, and community outreach. The leader will closely work with the Pastor and administrative staff to support the faith development of children in the BHBC congregation, in addition to working with the BHBC Youth leader. There is also an opportunity to combine this part-time role with another part-time position with our in-house preschool, resulting in a full-time employment arrangement.
Children’s Ministry Leader Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee children’s programs from birth to 6th grade.
- Recruit, select, equip, and lead volunteers for all aspects of children’s ministry.
- Ensure volunteers adhere to protection, safety, and security policies and childcare guidelines.
- Regularly communicate with parents through email, social media, and publications.
- Work with the Pastor to coordinate children’s programs and provide an annual budget recommendation.
- Plan and execute children's ministry camps, events, VBS, and retreats.
- Manage inventory of supplies, curriculum, and policies, recommending new policies when needed.
- Participate in church staff meetings and relevant committees or groups involving children’s ministries.
Children’s Ministry Leader Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong leadership, self-starter, organized, and detail-oriented.

- Positive, "can-do" attitude towards accomplishing goals and the church's vision.
- Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Children’s Ministry Leader Education and Experience Requirements:
- Experience working with children.
- Preferably three years of previous experience in a Children’s Leadership role and/or Family Ministries.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to undergo drug screening and a background check.
Job Expectations, Salary, and Benefits:
- Church office and employees observe designated holidays.
- Option for a day off within a 2-week timeframe if a holiday falls on a scheduled church service day.
- Work estimated at 25 hours a week, shared between planning, activities, teaching, and meetings.
Work Location: Onsite and in person during all church-scheduled gatherings, including office availability.
