Director of Students and Missions Job Description

Principal Function:
The Director of Students and Missions will oversee Radiant Church’s Student Ministry (grades 6-12) and Missions Ministry, providing leadership, vision, and strategy for engaging youth and mobilizing church members to serve locally and globally.

Direct Report:
Lead Pastor

Full Time: 40+ hours per week.

Specific Skills Needed:
Relational:

  • Foster personal connections with students, parents, staff, and church members.
  • Coordinate and facilitate student ministry activities and mission outreach initiatives with staff and volunteers.

Organizational/Planning:

  • Understand and align with the church’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Develop and execute plans for student worship services, Bible studies, outreach initiatives, and mission projects, ensuring consistent communication and coordination with church leadership.

Self-Motivator:

  • Effectively manage time and responsibilities with a strong work ethic.
  • Create and maintain a proactive and positive ministry environment, leading by example.

  • Serve the church as a flexible, moldable member of the ministry team, adapting roles and duties as needed to meet the church’s evolving needs.
  • Collaborate interdependently with other staff members and volunteer leaders, working toward the shared mission of the church.

Culture and Chemistry:

  • Promote a positive, vibrant church culture by cultivating healthy relationships with staff, church members, and volunteers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and reject gossip or negativity in the church culture.

  • Exercise discretion and wisdom in relationships, social media usage, and public practices that reflect the mission of the church.

Essential Job Functions

Student Ministry Duties:

  1. Lead Wednesday Night Student Worship Services:
    • Plan and lead engaging worship services for students in grades 6-12.
    • Deliver relevant biblical teachings and create a space for worship, connection, and spiritual growth.
  2. Oversee Sunday Morning Bible Studies (Grades 6-12):
    • Organize and lead Bible studies, providing curriculum oversight and mentorship for students.
    • Ensure an atmosphere of learning, discipleship, and community for all students involved.
  3. Develop a Ministry for Parents:
    • Create a supportive and engaging ministry for parents of students.
    • Provide resources, events, and communication that strengthen families and foster discipleship at home.

Missions Ministry Duties:

  1. Lead a Yearly Summer Mission Trip:
    • Plan, coordinate, and lead a mission trip that offers opportunities for service, discipleship, and spiritual growth for participants.
  2. Facilitate Adult Missions Teams to Promote Local Missions:
    • Partner with and lead adult teams to engage in local missions, serving the community in practical ways.
    • Mobilize and inspire church members to participate in outreach initiatives that impact the local community.
  3. Lead a Tuesday Night Outreach Small Group:
    • Facilitate a weekly small group focused on outreach, encouraging Radiant members to actively engage in serving the community.
    • Provide training, support, and resources for group members to live out their faith through acts of service and evangelism.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other staff and ministry leaders to ensure the overall mission of Radiant Church is supported and achieved.
  • Uphold and promote the vision and mission as defined by the Lead Pastor.
  • Provide pastoral care, counseling, and support as needed.
  • Participate in strategic planning, meetings, events, and organizational development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
