Overview
The Lead Pastor Serves as the spiritual leader of First Baptist Church of Marshville. He proclaims the Gospel, teaches God's Word, equips belivers, and leads the church to fulfill the Great Commission. The pastor provides spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and Christlike leadership in cooperation with the SBC, NC Baptist State Convention, and Union Baptist Association.
Qualifications
- Meets biblical qualifications (1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Pet. 5:2-4)
- Ordained Southern Baptist minister; seminary training required.
- Five or more years of pastoral experience preferred.
- Strong preaching, teaching, and leadership skills.
- Man of prayer, integrity, humility, and sound doctrine.
- Demonstrates balance between ministry and family life.
Primary Responsibilities
Preaching & Teaching: Deliver biblical, gospel-centered sermons; lead ordinances of baptism and the Lord's supper; teach and equip the church in faith and practice.
Vision and Leadership: Provide direction for staff and ministries; cast vision for discipleship, evangelism, and mission; lead in planning and administration.
Pastoral Care: Offer counseling, visitation, and support; conduct weddings, funerals, and other pastoral duties; promote unity within the congregation.
Discipleship & Missions: Lead the church in making disciples, developing leaders, and engaging in local and global missions; support SBC Cooperative Program.
Administration: Supervise staff, ensure faithful stewardship, accountability, and adherence to church bylaws; maintain availability for ministry needs.
Terms of Service:
- Full-time position under mutual covenant.
- Compensation package determined by the Finance Committee.
- 30-day notice required for resignation; annual financial review conducted.
The Lead Pastor is accountable to the church body in cooperation with the Deacons and Church Council.
