Overview


The Creative Arts Director plays a vital role in supporting the worship ministry and enhancing the overall media experience within our community. This position is designed for an individual who is passionate about worship, possesses strong vocal qualities, and has a knack for effective communication. The Assistant Worship & Arts Director will collaborate closely with the Worship & Arts Director to facilitate engaging worship services and enhance the church's social media presence.

The Creative Arts Director role is to function as the strategic point leader on the design and execution of all The Gathering weekend services and special events to include sound, lighting, video and livestream. This position must effectively lead, administrate and mobilize staff and volunteers (tech, audio, musicians and vocalists) into a team that consistently provide creative, meaningful and emotionally evocative services at The Gathering. High attention to quality and detail is required. This person also will function as a part of the central team that gives input and oversight to the whole organization of The Gathering, while supporting the Senior Pastor and elders.

Creative Arts Ministry Purpose

The Creative Arts ministry will create worship environments and experiences that invite people to journey towards intimacy with God and give followers of Jesus a worship experience that will encourage them as they join in Jesus’ mission.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. To follow The Gathering Staff Expectations as outlined in The Gathering Employee Handbook.
  2. To apply the non-negotiable Core Values of The Gathering Community Church throughout all aspects of the Creative Arts ministry.
  3. To meet regularly (weekly) with the Senior Pastor and other Staff to creatively develop the elements of the service that will reinforce and support the message of the service. 
  4. To recruit, lead and develop a high quality Creative Arts Team that delivers an integrated, excellent weekend experience that is lead by this position on stage and off with a volunteer band and production staff. 
  5. To work with the Youth Pastor to recruit, train, develop and oversee the youth band for high quality youth worship.
  6. To Drive the quality/creative/spiritual standards (DNA) for the content of weekend experiences in and through the Creative Arts teams.
  7. To Pastor/Shepherd the volunteer teams under your care within your spiritual giftings under the guidance and direction of the Senior Pastor and elders. 
  8. To Pastor/Shepherd and grow volunteers into leadership roles and serve as God is calling them in order to reproduce yourself in His kingdom. To develop and responsibly manage the Creative Arts budget.

  10. Lead production teams (tech, audio, video and livestream) with excellence. Seek for continual improvement and allow team members to grow to their fullest potential with their various gifts.
  11. Normal expected duties include Sunday morning leading worship on stage, weekly practice and monthly volunteer scheduling, recruiting, auditioning and song selection. All scheduling done through Planning Center Online.
  12. Other responsibilities include coordinating and troubleshooting visual lighting (Light Key) and projection (Pro Presenter) software, keep CCLI and other licensing up to date, manage various subscriptions to background slides and Loop Community/Prime Tracks.
  13. Update, maintain, manage the future acquisition of audio and video equipment such as in- ear monitoring for volunteers, computers, tablets, ipads and similar devices within the Creative Arts Department.
  14. Demonstrate and model a growing relationship with Jesus and being open and willing to share life with your teams.
