Role

The role of the Pastor is to minister to the congregation and community through sermons and teaching God’s Word, ministering to the congregation in their spiritual needs and providing bible based spiritual leadership for the church. The pastor will demonstrate skill sets that include but not limited to strong communication and people skills, outreach, motivational, teaching, leadership and others.

RHBC will consider candidates for either full time or bi-vocational employment.

Professional Qualifications

  • Ordained Baptist minister with at least 5+ years of pastoral ministry experience.
  • Theological degree graduate from an accredited Southern Baptist education institution.
  • Professed personal devout faith in Jesus Christ in the Baptist tradition.

Knowledge Skills and Character

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Bible and strong religious conviction.
  • Personal and spiritual integrity and maturity.
  • Positive human relations skills with the ability to motivate.
  • Demonstrate ability to listen and minister to congregation’s needs.
  • Provide effective oversight of church operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and with technology.
  • Ability to demonstrate impartiality, patience, perseverance, and fiscal responsibility.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires great flexibility in hours available for work including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Pastor should be able to balance the amount of time in office with visitation/outreach/activities.

Duties - Responsibilities

  • Proclaim the Word of God in a regular pulpit ministry.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the Direct plans for ministry and church growth, develop and oversee church structure.
  • Motivate, equip and nurture the congregation through example: preaching and teaching God’s Word and spiritual counseling.
  • Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study.
  • Provide leadership and nurturing of the church’s Deacons ministry to develop strong spiritual leaders.
  • Facilitate outreach to congregational needs as well as community outreach.
  • Officiate at weddings and funerals.
  • Provide conflict resolution management as needed to provide spiritual unity in the church.
  • Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival or other special services, visitation and other outreach efforts.
  • Work with various standing and special committees in accomplishing their respective duties.
  • Cooperate with local, state and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interests and concernsand keep the church informed, and represent the church in civic matters.
