Job Description: Family Ministry Children’s Assistant
Position Reports to: Family Pastor
Employment Status: Part-time (20 hours per week) Evenings and weekend work required (e.g., Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, special events, etc.).
Purpose: The Family Ministry Children’s Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the Family Pastor in the day-to-day operations and in implementing and carrying out the vision for the Kids Department (birth – 5th Grade). This position will work closely with the Family Pastor to ensure a seamless and effective kids' ministry experience while also supporting other Family Ministry areas as needed. This is a highly organized, hands-on position with a passion for kids and a heart for service.
Duties:
- Assist the Family Pastor with planning, organizing, and executing kids’ ministry (birth – 5th Grade) activities and events on Sundays and Wednesdays.
- Coordinate and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring coverage for all ministry needs, including coordinating substitute teachers when necessary and/or filling in yourself.
- Coordinate supplies and help set up and clean up before and after kids’ ministry meetings and events.
- Print and organize curriculum and other materials needed for ministry activities, ordering supplies as needed, maintaining inventory and ensuring resources are available.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and networking new volunteers for kids' ministry by fostering an encouraging, team-oriented environment among volunteers and staff.
- Help plan, coordinate, and assist with event logistics, including preparing materials, coordinating volunteers, and setting up/cleaning up as needed.
- Maintain basic administrative tasks, including scheduling, communication, and organization of ministry resources. Utilize tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) for communication, organization, and reports.
- Assist with basic social media and other online tools as needed to promote Family Ministry and communicate with the congregation.
- Identify and train someone to lead in your absence.
- Work with the supervisor to set and adjust the weekly work schedule.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Be flexible and willing to help with other Family Ministry areas as requested by the Family Pastor.

- A team player who is teachable, responsible, flexible, and demonstrates excellent time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software.
- Basic experience with online tools such as social media, ProPresenter, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Office Hours & Work Schedule:
- Program Hours: Sunday Mornings 8:00a – 12:00p & Wednesday Evenings 4:30p – 8:30p.
- Office Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 9:00a – 3:00p.
- Staff Meetings on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
- Additional Hours: This person will be expected to be at key events/meetings outside of the above program/office hours. Please see the supervisor for details.
