Children’s Ministry Director

Position Overview:
The Children’s Ministry Director will lead the children’s ministry (birth-5th grade) through teaching, leading, planning, and communicating. This person will work alongside the Student Minister in leading children by developing a biblically-based, discipleship-focused, family-oriented children’s ministry at FBC. The Children’s Ministry Director will work in conjunction with the ministerial staff to lead the ministry in alignment with the church’s established mission, vision, and values. This is a part-time position, 12 hours per week. There is some flexibility on the distribution of hours, but a general distribution of hours would be evenly distributed between in-office hours, active ministry leadership, and planning, preparation, study, and administration in any setting.
Direct Report: Student Minister
Primary Responsibilities:
Disciple-Making
- Foster an environment where staff and volunteers can develop intentional relationships with children and their families for the purpose of disciple-making
- Under the direction of the Student Minister, implement an all-inclusive, age-appropriate disciple-making strategy that leads our children to be introduced to foundational truths of Scripture
Teaching
- Be available to teach children’s classes as schedule and volunteer availability requires
- Under the direction of the Student Minister, provide input on teaching curriculum choices
Leading
- Work to align and connect all aspects of the children’s ministry to the life of FBC
- Be responsible for directing all activities related to children (weekly activities, VBS, outreach events, etc.)
- Implement comprehensive children’s safety and security policies and procedures
Planning
- Ensure that all regularly scheduled classes are properly staffed with properly trained children’s ministry volunteers
- Ensure that each teacher/leader has the appropriate curriculum and materials
- Maintain appropriate communication with the Student Minister and other relevant staff members to ensure church-wide clarity on children’s programs, classes, and other activities
Communicating
- Develop a family culture amongst our children’s ministry through consistent and engaging communication
- Be responsible for making the children’s ministry a visual and vibrant part of our church family
