Associate Pastor of Student Families & Missions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Shiloh desires an individual with a strong love for students and their families to grow closer to the Lord and each other. One who is filled with passion in his calling! A man who is strong in God’s word, equipped to teach and lead by example. A man who will create an environment where students and families feel loved, accepted, and wanted. Where the Love of Christ is taught and displayed in all that takes place both inside and outside the church. A man who understands the need for missions locally and around the world. One who encourages others to go out and share the gospel message by leading the way. 

Student Families: (50%)

  • Have a strong personal walk/relationship with the Lord through bible study, prayer, worship
  • Work closely with the senior pastor, church leadership, and other ministry teams to align the student ministry with the overall vision and mission of Shiloh Baptist Church of Monroe.
  • Develop a student Family ministry that helps reach and teach students to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ and contributing members of Shiloh Baptist Church.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Build a student ministry team: Identify, mentor, and equip youth leaders within the church, empowering them to actively participate in the youth ministry.
  • Meet and greet new families with students to build relationships/ make contact with visitors.
  • Coordinate and lead a weekly Student worship on Wednesday nights (teaching, music, activities)
  • Teach conservative biblical principles, standards, and understandings of God’s word
  • Build relationships within the local community of Shiloh, collaborating with local schools, organizations and other churches, and families to create opportunities for youth involvement and community service.
  • Plan mission-minded trips and outings (mission trips, camps, weekend adventures, D-Now)
  • Plan outings for fellowship and student relational growth
  • Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans that encourage partnership and involvement.
  • Be involved in church outreach activities, fellowships, and ministries.
  • Organize/plan various student events, retreats, and mission trips to foster fellowship and spiritual growth among the students.
  • Help with VBS by offering student teaching, activities, or whatever the need may be.
  • Keep student information continually updated on the website and social media platforms.
  • You are never to be alone with a student; protect your testimony and family at all times.

Church Missions (35%):

  • Help staff, lay leaders, and church ministries develop and facilitate mission opportunities in the local, national, and global arena of mission opportunities and needs.
  • Develop a mission partnership and facilitate it with the NC Baptist Children’s Home.
  • Help develop mission partnerships with the church and other mission entities.
  • Help develop mission opportunities with the Local Baptist association.
  • Seek out, organize, and lead mission endeavors internationally with Southern Baptist relationships or others as approved by the senior pastor.

Pastoral Care (15%)

  • Minister to those who are in need of encouragement by visiting, sending cards, making personal contact, sending text, or whatever you can do to be an encouragement.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other ministry teams, such as Sunday School classes, Men’s & Women’s Groups, Disaster Relief/Recovery, Deacons, etc., so that all are aware of others’ needs.
  • Make assessments and/or referrals to appropriate internal or external care and counseling agencies.
  • Communicate information regarding Pastoral Care through various communication formats (print, electronic, etc.), ensuring sensitivity and privacy requested by individuals and required by law.
  • Be knowledgeable of ethical and safe practices that minimize the church’s liability.
  • Provide resources, documentation, and information as required and directed.
  • Visit senior adults and shut-ins on an as-needed basis, or as directed by the pastor
  • Make sure the senior pastor is aware of members’ needs, conditions, and concerns.
  • Be prepared to preach as needed in the Pulpit when called upon.
  • Be able to assist or perform weddings and funerals as needed or requested.
  • Communicate and collaborate with pastoral staff on needs for personal support, resources, etc., as well as church-wide issues and events that pertain to the church’s Pastoral Care Ministry.
  • All other Duties as assigned by the Pastor
  • Preparing all budgets as responsible for in this Job Description

Professional/Biblical Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree is greatly preferred.
  • Strong Communication, organization, and leadership development skills are required.
  • Saved, baptized, and a follower of Jesus Christ (John 3:16, Colossians 2:12-13, 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:16)
  • Affirm the Bible, Jesus, the Trinity, God, the Holy Spirit, & affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message
  • Affirm that there are only 2 genders, and marriage is solely between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:24)
  • Pray, Study God’s word, Tithe (all staff are required to tithe) 2nd Timothy 2: 14-26)
  • Not partake of Alcohol, recreational or illegal drugs, tobacco products, or vape: A strong moral example expected
  • The Associate Pastor and family must join the church
  • Actively involved in worship, Sunday School, church missions, discipleship, and overall church activities

Associate Pastor Compensation:                                                                                                                                       

  • Salary to be discussed and agreed upon by the pastor, personnel team, finance committee, and the candidate.
  • 10% to be placed in retirement
  • Insurance compensation, mileage reimbursement, and cell phone compensation.
  • Paid Holidays (13 days per year)
  • 2 weeks paid vacation: gaining a week after the 3rd year / 4 weeks total after the 6th year)
  • Paid sick leave as needed, approved by the Senior Pastor
  • One week of professional development, conference, or revivals per year/ 2 weeks after the 3rd year
  • 2,600sq. ft. parsonage available, newly renovated.
